Who attends The Well?
*EVERYONE is welcome at The Well! Since launching in January 2008 The Well has been a beautiful mosaic of nearly every slice of every culture represented in our area. So whether you are: a curious cynic or have hung around church for decades; are Hispanic, Black, White etc.; financially challenged or comfortable; are 7 days, 7 months or 77 years old; have no religious background or have a faith heritage from any one of the many streams of faith; are an Independent, Democrat, Republican or Libertarian; have a G.E.D. or a graduate degree; consider yourself a liberal, moderate or conservative; love labor unions or not; admire what religion is supposed to be or loathe what religion has been; are troubled by the lack of love and grace with which those with differing views of sexual orientation and/or gender identity are treated are frustrated that the church doesn’t speak the truth enough on complex issues of sexuality that tends to saturate today’s culture and conversations, come as you are, whether jeans and a t-shirt, shorts or a suit and tie….
*However, if you happen to think you have it all figured out and/or feel that those who are different from and/or disagree with you on various matters should not be engaged with love and understanding then, well, you might find yourself struggling to fit in. :O) You see, we know how shallow and ineffective it is to try to be all things to all people. For both pragmatic and theological reasons we find the notion of relative truth to be illogical and naive.
We embrace the reality of absolute truth (the reality God created). We also acknowledge that those who recklessly espouse their various notions of absolute truth can become dangerous to themselves and humankind as a whole when they fiercely hold their convictions without respect to the undeniable absolute truth that no human or anything man-made is without fault. Of course the other absolute truth is that any knowledge, without love is unprofitable. Therefore all truth should be held humbly and with a conviction to never assume there is nothing left to learn.
In light of this Jacob’s Well seeks to create and protect a culture of life-long learning in which everyone is always treated with love and respect. We also expect everyone to constantly seek to engage others with whom they may disagree in ongoing constructive dialogue so that as life-long learners who compare all human insights to God’s as found in His Word, we might all grow in our awareness of His unchangeable truth.
What about my baby(s) or toddler(s)?
A secure nursery is provided as a convenient benefit for the guardians of infants and toddlers. This loving, comfortable atmosphere staffed by loving and caring individuals helps children learn to associate attending services as a time of safe, warm, engaging fun. Child care can also afford the parents who utilize it the opportunity to experience the adult worship without distraction, knowing their children are safe and cared for.
What about my elementary aged child(ren)?
A phenomenal multi-sensory learning experience that combines both a large corporate and small group learning formats focuses each student each week on one transformative Biblical truth. The teaching philosophy that has inspired such an approach is described here by Rick Lawrence, editor of GROUP…”We believe that the popular lecture-based method is an ineffective tool for transforming lives. Transformation most often happens in experiential, conversational settings. That’s why we still believe in, and shamelessly promote, our “cheesy” acronym R.E.A.L. It stands for Relational, Experiential, Applicable, and Learner-based.”
Our Facility
Jacob’s Well ministry occupies over 8000 square feet in her new modern campus. This facility houses all of the rooms necessary to meet the needs of every ministry providing a comfortable learning and teaching environment. CLICK HERE to see the floor plan.
Music
Music is a major part of our worship. Instruments may range from piano and guitars and drums to sometimes just a few voices. The music is typically contemporary though you will at times experience hand-clapping gospel or a traditional hymn mixed in. Whatever the accompaniment you can be assured that the worship team will be inspired by the Spirit’s leading.
The Message
The service will typically be centered on a relevant teaching the Pastor (or other speaker) has been inspired to deliver. Each Sunday will feature a message that will challenge you to think, learn and mature in your walk as a Christian. In much the same practice of the Apostle Paul, our messages will at times take into account the audience so that it is impacting, relevant and inspiring.
Prayer
The entire service is wrapped in prayer. There is also a prayer team as well as individuals that would be pleased to pray with and for you. We believe that prayer is a time for direct and intentional communication with God. Prayer develops our relationship with God.
Prayer–communicating with God–helps us grow closer and more intimately connected with Him.
Giving
We believe tithing is an act of worship. Everything belongs to God so returning to God a portion of that-bringing our first fruits demonstrates our trust in Him to multiply it for kingdom purposes and demonstrates faith that He will bring each of us increase as we give back to Him. We believe that tithing should be an act of the heart and not out of presumption or expectation of others; therefore tithing is voluntary at any time by depositing it in one of the Joy Boxes. We believe one should give what is in their heart to give and proportional to that which God has blessed them.
